VAT calculator
Add VAT to a net price, or take it back out of a gross price.
How to use it
- Enter the amount.
- Choose whether the amount is before VAT or already includes it.
- Pick 23%, 13.5%, 9% or 0%. A custom rate is there if you already know the percentage.
The rates from 1 January 2026
Revenue’s current-rate table, in force from 1 January 2026, lists a standard rate of 23%, a reduced rate of 13.5%, a second reduced rate of 9%, and a zero rate. Which rate belongs on a particular supply is a classification question. This page only does the arithmetic once you have chosen.
Adding VAT takes the percentage of the net price. Taking it off uses the VAT fraction. At 23%, the VAT in a gross price is 23/123 of that price. €100 net at 23% is €23 of VAT and €123 gross. Amounts are rounded to the nearest cent.
