Split PDF

Keep the pages you name, or save every page on its own.

Runs in your browser. Your files are not uploaded.

How to split

How to use it

  1. Add one PDF. The page count appears once it has been read on your device.
  2. Either type the pages to keep, such as 1-3, 5, or choose every page as its own PDF.
  3. Download the result. Several files arrive together in a zip.

Writing a page range

Use commas between pages and a hyphen for a run: 1-3, 5 keeps pages 1, 2, 3 and 5. A backwards range such as 4-1 is allowed. Pages can be repeated if you need a copy.

Numbers start at 1 for the first page. Anything past the last page is refused, rather than silently skipped.

One file or one page each

“Selected pages” builds a single PDF in the order you typed. “Every page” is useful when a scanner has bundled loose sheets and you want them separate.

When you are ready to join files again, Merge PDF puts them back in an order you choose.

Questions

Does splitting upload the PDF?

No. The file is read and written in your browser. Nothing is uploaded.

Can I extract the same page twice?

Yes. Repeat the number in the range, for example 2, 2, and that page is copied twice into the new PDF.

What happens with a password-protected PDF?

The tool stops and asks you to unlock it on your device. The password is never sent anywhere, because the file is not uploaded.
