PNG to JPG

Save a PNG as a JPEG. Transparent pixels become a flat image.

Runs in your browser. Your files are not uploaded.

How to use it

  1. Add one or more PNG files.
  2. Set the JPEG quality. Lower is smaller and softer.
  3. Download the JPEG, or a zip if you added several.

Transparency is flattened

JPEG has no transparency. Transparent pixels are drawn onto the image as the decoder left them, which is usually a dark or empty backdrop rather than a colour you pick. If the picture relies on a clear background, a JPEG is the wrong destination.

The conversion runs in this browser. A PNG of a photograph is often much larger than the JPEG you get back. A PNG of a logo or a screenshot may look worse as a JPEG. The size line tells you which happened.

Questions

Can I keep the transparent background?

Not in a JPEG. Use PNG to WebP if you want a smaller file that can still carry transparency, and check the result.

What quality should I start with?

Around 80 is a reasonable photograph. Drop it if the file is still too big, and look at the picture before you send it.

Is the PNG uploaded?

No.
